P3M lost in Quezon City fire

A fire that started shortly after noon yesterday at the second floor of a two-story residential house in Quezon City displaced at least 128 families, according to a fire report.

SPO1 Rosendo Cabillan said the blaze broke out at UP Village in Barangay San Vicente.

It was placed under control more than an hour later but not before it reached Task Force Alpha and destroyed P3 million worth of property.

There were also unconfirmed reports that a boy and his grandmother perished in the fire which destroyed 40 houses made of light materials and left 128 families homeless.

The flames also spread to the third and fourth floors of the UP Bliss Building, damaging some units.

According to Anita Nava, 41, a barangay clerk who lived five houses away from where the fire started, the blaze began due to an illegal electrical connection. Rick Enriquez
