An antidrug operation conducted in another exclusive residential area—this time in Quezon City—led to the seizure of eight kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu,” Monday morning.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Bureau of Customs (BoC) intercepted the P40-million worth of drugs as they were brought by an international package delivery company to the house of Marvin Sia, a 27-year-old Chinese-Filipino businessman, on Greenmeadows Avenue.

Authorities also placed Sia under arrest after he received the drugs, which had been misdeclared as sodium tungstate and placed inside eight packets.

According to PDEA Director General Jose Gutierrez Jr., customs officials in Clark, Pampanga, informed them about the arrival of the drugs from China via the package delivery firm at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport.

PDEA operatives then placed the illegal shipment under surveillance and organized a “controlled delivery operation” to apprehend its owner.

From Clark, the package was transported to a branch of the courier service in Pasig City.

From there, it was delivered to Sia’s unit in Enclave Townhouse at 71 Greemeadows Ave., Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City.

Sia personally received the package round 8:30 a.m. and operatives of the PDEA Regional Office 3, led by director Roybel Sanchez, and the BoC moved to arrest him.

Earlier this month, PDEA agents busted three shabu laboratories in the exclusive Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City and seized millions of pesos’ worth of illegal drugs.
