Burglars hit Guadalupe home

The house of a  71-year-old man was allegedly burglarized yesterday dawn in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Alex Gaviola of 2nd Street, Maria Theresa Village 2, told the police that unidentified men took two iPhones  amounting to P80,000, one gold necklace worth P80,000 and a Tag Heuer wristwatch worth $3,000 (P80,000) inside his house.

Police investigation revealed that the suspects entered the house through its kitchen door by opening the sliding glass window and reaching for the doorknob.

In a phone interview, PO2 Jovito L. Labra of the Theft and Robbery Section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said Gaviola forgot to lock the windows before they went to bed.

Labra said the suspects went to Gaviola’s  married daughter’s bedroom at the second floor  and took the two  iPhones, gold necklace and Tag Heuer wristwatch from the bedside table.

“The couple was sound asleep so they did not notice the burglars,” Labra said in Cebuano.

Gaviola’s son-in-law discovered the burglary past 4 a.m. when he was awakened by the sound of footsteps from the stairs.
