Pilot, trainee rescued after training plane crashes in Tarlac

MANILA, Philippines — A pilot and his student trainee were rescued Saturday after their training plane crashed in Comillas, Tarlac.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) said in a statement that a C172 type plane of Alpha Aviation crashed in Tarlac while on its way back to the Clark International Airport.

The pilot, Captain Irineo Manguba, requested an emergency landing at 9:44 a.m. citing “engine failure.”

Caap added that when the plane crashed in Comillas, Manguba requested for him and his Indian student Jeny Jerome to be rescued.

The two have been brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.
