Insurers nip Vintage Selection in friendly

THE Insurers edged Vintage Selection, 88-86, last Saturday in a friendly game that highlighted the 2011 Christmas Party celebration of Vintage Ball Club at the barangay Pooc Sports Complex in Talisay City, Cebu.

Insurers led, 20-16 in the opening period behind the hot tandem of pointguard July Capala and former USJ-R Jaguar Rey Abarquez.

The Insurers kept their slim lead in the 2nd and 3rd periods as Flor Yosores provided solid leadership with forward Wewe Cabrera and high-leaping center Alex Mercado.

It was a seesaw match in the fourth quarter until Rickboy Nacario gave Vintage an, 84-82 lead with two successive triples in the final 30 seconds. But the Insurers July Capala dished crucial assists to Wewe Cabrera and Flor Yosores for the two-point victory.

Capala and Yosores led the Insurers with 19 and 18 points, respectively while Rickboy Nacario fired a game-high 24 points for Vintage Selection.
