It was business as usual on Tuesday for Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV who held a “despedida” hearing in the Senate amid his reported impending arrest.

Trillanes continued with his hearing as chair of the Senate committee on civil service despite the arrival at the Senate of policemen purportedly sent to arrest him.

Curiously, the hearing was about alleged conflict of interest committed by Solicitor General Jose Calida, whom Trillanes claims was behind the move to revoke the amnesty.

The possible arrest comes after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the revocation of the amnesty granted to Trillanes by then President Benigno Aquino III.

At the start of the hearing, Trillanes even joked about the arrest.

“Parang despedida hearing na ito,” he said in jest.

Trillanes earlier said he would not resist arrest or escape.

He also expressed readiness to surrender to authorities. /cbb
