Senator Antonio Trillanes pointed to Solicitor General Jose Calida as the one allegedly behind the President’s order to revoke the amnesty granted to him during the past administration.

At syempre gustong-gusto nitong amo niya, ni Duterte,” Trillanes, a staunch critic of President Rodrigo Duterte, said in an interview at the Senate on Tuesday.

“They’ve been trying everything to stop the hearing na iko- conduct ko against kay Mr. Calida,” he said. Incidentally, a committee in the Senate, chaired by Trillanes, is conducting a probe against Calida.

The senator was reacting to Duterte’s Proclamation 572 signed last August 31, revoking his amnesty granted by former President Benigno Aquino III.

In revoking Trillanes’ amnesty, the proclamation cited the senator’s alleged failure to apply for amnesty as well as his failure to express guilt for the crimes that he committed.

The senator said his lawyers are exhausting all remedies to void what he described as a “stupid” proclamation.

“Ewan ko kung abogado ang gumawa nito. Malamang si Calida yan at si Duterte, na baka areglo lang sa bar, kaya naging abogado,” he said.

Despite this, the senator reiterated his readiness to abide by the Senate leadership’s action on his case.

He likewise reiterated his willingness to surrender voluntarily to authorities if needed.

I will not resist arrest. I will not escape so haharapin ko ito,” Trillanes stressed.
