Power supply glitch cripples LRT-1 operations

The Light Rail Transit (LRT-1) has limited its operations due to a power supply problem.
In an advisory on Saturday, the LRT-1 management said power was shut off to fix an electrical wire near the Libertad Station.
It added that the repair has limited the line’s operations along the northbound section or between the United Nations and Roosevelt stations.

Security guards at the line’s Carriedo station told INQUIRER.net that LRT-1 operations have been limited since 6 a.m.
In a separate advisory, Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) which operates the line, said an “electrical cable along the train line had a line to ground fault” which led to the cutting down of trips.
It noted that no passengers were injured from the accident and that all passengers were safely evacuated off the train.
The LRMC said that as of 12:40 p.m., an LRT-1 engineering team has already repaired the affected cable.
As of 2:56 p.m., the line resumed full operation.
