Senate okays bills on adding more LTO licensing centers around Luzon

/ 05:28 PM May 28, 2018

The Senate on Monday passed on final reading six bills that seeks to convert Land Transportation Office extension offices into regular licensing centers.

The measures would provide for the conversion of the LTO extension offices in San Pablo, Laguna, Balayan, Batangas, Malabon, Batangas City, Muntinlupa City and Kawit, Cavite.

“Converting LTO extension offices into regular LTO district offices would, in effect, mean faster processing of transactions, and hopefully, shorter queues,” Senator Grace Poe, sponsor of the bills, said in a statement.

Poe said the proposed measure would allow the said offices to increase their capacity.

The senator sponsored last year Republic Act No. 10930 extending the validity of drivers’ licenses to five years.

“Our push to better serve the public does not end there. We must ensure that these frontline offices of the LTO can actually implement the law that we passed,” Poe said. /vvp
