Buy-bust death mars Parañaque PNP’s clean streak
Parañaque police’s streak of zero deaths during its drug operations this year was cut short after their operatives killed a notorious drug pusher early on Friday.
Police only identified the slain suspect as alias Tarat, a man between 26 to 28 years old. He was pronounced dead at a hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds in the body.
In a report submitted to Senior Supt. Victor Rosete, chief of Parañaque police, the antidrugs and intelligence units conducted buy-bust operation against Tarat and another unidentified man at Macapagal Avenue, Barangay Tambo at 1:30 a.m.
Two antinarcotics men, PO1 Dominic Enguio and PO1 Jaycee dela Cruz, were able to buy three sachets of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P300 from the suspects.
However, sensing that they were dealing with policemen, Tarat pulled out his .38-caliber revolver and fired twice at the two.
Backup personnel, PO3 Dennis Ancheta and PO3 James Locsin, fired at the suspects. Tarat was hit multiple times while his cohort was able to escape. —DEXTER CABALZA
