DID YOU KNOW: Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006

The Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, which established a comprehensive justice and welfare system for children, was enacted by virtue of Republic Act 9344.

Signed on April 28, 2006, it took effect on May 22, 2006.

The act also created the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council under the supervision of the justice secretary and chaired by an undersecretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Marielle Medina
