Albay solon files bill for eligibility for elected village officials

LEGAZPI CITY – Albay second district Rep. Joey Salceda has filed House Bill 7719 which aims to grant automatic eligibility to elected village officials, particularly Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) councilors.

“I have filed HB 7719 granting Barangay Official Eligibility (BOE) to SK Kagawads. Currently, only Barangay Officials, including Treasurer and Secretaries, have Barangay Official Eligibility,” he stressed.

He said the BOE shall be considered appropriate for appointment to first level positions in the career service, except positions covered by board laws and/or those that require other special eligibility as determined by the Civil Service Commission, or those that require licenses.

Lynbee Navio, spokesperson of Civil Service Commission Region V, said barangay officials (elective and appointive) who have completed at least one term (three years) from 2010 to present is entitled to have the Barangay Official Eligibility. MICHAEL B. JAUCIAN
