Officials should respect their office
President Digong has asked two assistant secretaries — Moslemen Macarambon Sr. of the Department of Justice and Tingagun Ampaso Umpa of the Department of Public Works and Highways — to resign because of derogatory reports against them.
The purge of corrupt and inefficient officials is continuing.
The President is keeping his campaign promise that he will eliminate, or at least minimize, corruption during his watch.
Nobody is a sacred cow.

New Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat posed for a photo with the President at Malacañang which was on the front page of another paper.
Secretary Puyat has asked all undersecretaries and assistant secretaries in her department to resign.
She’s starting with a clean slate.
The new tourism secretary also wants Tourism Promotions Board Head Cesar Montano to explain his P80 million “Buhay Carinderia” Project and his recent trip to New York.
Montano can probably justify his foreign trip since it’s his job to promote the country but he’s going to have a hard time explaining his enormous food project.
The former actor should also be asked to explain why he keeps on wearing casual clothes like shirts when he goes to the office.
It’s unbecoming of a government official, much more one who promotes the country, to wear house clothes to work.
I’ve seen many high-ranking politicians wearing shorts, shirts and slippers in five-star hotels.
They may want to dress like the common tao but they should also respect their lofty positions.

An accident victim, 60-year-old Teresita Mandigma, was refused admission at the 2nd Infantry Division (ID) hospital in Tanay, Rizal because she was not a soldier’s dependent.
A military hospital should accept a civilian patient if it’s an emergency. Even a military hospital is bound by the Hippocratic oath.
In fairness to the leadership of the Army’s 2nd ID, the guards at the camp gates and the hospital personnel on duty are now being investigated.

Businessman Anthony Malixi complains of being harassed by his estranged wife.
The woman charged him twice with molesting her daughter from a previous marriage.
Both cases have been dismissed by the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Now, Malixi is facing another case filed by his wife involving the same daughter, in the Antipolo City Prosecutor’s Office. But this time, it’s for rape.
If that’s not forum shopping, I don’t know what is.
