Alleged drug pusher killed, 2 others nabbed in Lucena
LUCENA CITY – An alleged drug pusher was killed and two others were arrested by a policeman in Lucena Tuesday.
Senior Insp. Dickson Mercado, in civilian clothes, was walking his way home in Capitol Homesite Subdivision in Barangay (village) Cotta around 5 p.m. when he spotted one of the suspects at the side of the street giving a plastic sachet he believed contained a powdery substance to two men, Supt. Romulo Albacea, Lucena police chief, said.
Mercado accosted the suspects and ordered them to lie on the ground. Reynan Cabana Almazan, 22, and a 16-year-old boy obeyed the order but Ruel Umal Paulite, 38, reportedly drew his caliber .38 revolver and shot the policeman but missed his target.
The police officer fired back and hit the suspect who still managed to run at the nearby vacant lot where he fell and died.
When frisked, Almazan yielded a bladed weapon and a plastic sachet containing one gram of shabu.
