Brothers arrested for selling drugs to Parañaque cops
Two brothers — one a former drug surrenderer, the other a barangay watchman — were arrested on Tuesday morning after they sold a sachet of “shabu” (crystal meth) to Parañaque City policemen.
A joint team from the Parañaque Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency found another sachet of shabu on Ferdie Santos, 53, a vendor who surrendered to the police in 2016 for his involvement in illegal drugs.
Ferdie’s brother, Teodorico, 55, was a watchman in Barangay La Huerta who had allegedly long been using his position to proliferate the spread of drugs in the area with his brother’s help, the police said.
SDEU chief, Senior Insp. Anthony Alising, told the Inquirer that Santos was not the only watchman in the barangay believed to be involved in the illegal drug trade.
Up to four others were also being monitored, Alising said. The brothers will be charged in the Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act. —Matthew Reysio-Cruz
