Fire hits residential area in Sta. Cruz, Manila

Several houses made of light materials went up in flames as a fire broke out Friday night at Oroqueta corner Doroteo Jose Streets in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

According to Txtfire Philippines, the fire started about 7:15 p.m. that immediately engulfed several houses in the area.

Firefighters raised the alarm at task force Bravo.

Power supply was also temporarily cut off after an electrical transformer at a Meralco post exploded.

Affected areas include key establishments such as bus terminals, the Manila City Jail, and Light Rail Transit (LRT) Stations Doroteo Jose (Line 1) and Recto (Line 2).

The walkway bridge connecting Doroteo Jose and Recto stations has been closed to commuters due to thick smoke. The fire is still ongoing as of posting time. /jpv
