The Metropolitan Manila Development Agency (MMDA) announced on Friday the reconstruction of Concordia Bridge in Paco, Manila.

The repair works will mean partial closure of the bridge for eight months starting on May 1.

MMDA Deputy Chairman Frisco San Juan said in a statement that fixing the bridge, which is located along Quirino Avenue, has long been delayed.

MMDA has tasked Special Operations Task Group Bong Nebrija to conduct clearing operations on roads that may serve as alternative routes.

The bridge’s southbound lane would be closed first, forcing vehicles heading north or south to share the three remaining lanes.  MMDA has also coordinated with the Department of Public Works and Highways regarding the reconstruction, which has to be done ahead of the Skyway 3 project.
