1 dead in shoot-out with police in Batangas

A still unidentified man was killed while his companion escaped from a police operation in Tanauan City in Batangas province early Friday.

A report from the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (Calabarzon) police office said the shootout happened around 3:30 a.m. in Barangay (village) Sala.

Members of the city police and the Batangas Highway Patrol Group responded to a report of robbery, involving two suspects on a motorcycle, the report said.

The police said that during the chase in the village, the suspects were first to fire shots, prompting them to retaliate and kill one of the suspects. MARICAR CINCO
