Former cop arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Mindoro
CITY OF CALAPAN – A former policeman was arrested for illegal possession of firearms in the town of Pinamalayan in Oriental Mindoro on Wednesday night.
Supt. Imelda Tolentino, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) police information officer, said Voniño delos Santos, who formerly held the rank of Senior Police Officer 2 and a resident of Calapan City, was arrested in Barangay Marfrancisco in at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
When police flagged him down, he identified himself as a dismissed police personnel.

Delos Santos, 41, was dismissed from the Philippine National Police (PNP) service on June 20, 2017 reportedly due to grave misconduct for use of illegal drugs and conduct unbecoming of a police officer, according toTolentino.
De los Santos voluntarily surrendered the gun and a magazine loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, in Bongabong town, police arrested Jaime Gaspado, 49, a farmer, in his residence in Sitio Quinaban, Barangay San Jose, at around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Tolentino said police confiscated from him an improvised shotgun and a loaded .22 magnum revolver. /ee
