DID YOU KNOW: US part in PH revolution against Spain

On April 26, 1898, war was declared between Spain and the United States.

Earlier, American consul E. Spencer Pratt had advised Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo to continue the struggle against Spain since he had US support.

On April 27, Admiral George Dewey’s fleet left Hong Kong and later defeated the Spanish naval forces in the Battle of Manila Bay on May 1. Marielle Medina
