Mall operators may be fined up to P1 million if they are caught allowing “colorum” public utility vehicles (PUVs) to operate in their terminals.

Transportation Undersecretary for Roads Tim Orbos will meet with Metro Manila mall operators tomorrow, April 12, to remind them that they would be “made answerable” for the proliferation of colorum vehicles in their terminals.

Under the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s Memorandum Circular No. 2017-030 which sets the guidelines for off-street terminal operations, violators face a minimum fine of P50,000 for every colorum jeepney and up to P1 million for every colorum bus.

Around 195 malls in Metro Manila also serve as transport hubs. Of these, 16 are located on Edsa.
