Aguirre stays on as DOJ chief, says Roque, quashing rumor of sacking

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II will remain at his post, according to presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

President Rodrigo Duterte did not fire Aguirre during the 24th Cabinet meeting in Malacañang on Wednesday.

“No such thing,” Roque said in a text message.

A rumor has been circulating that Duterte would fire Aguirre because he was displeased by the DOJ decision to dismiss the drug charges against top drug lords. /atm
