Man charged with parricide transferred to QC jail
A man who killed and mutilated his wife’s body was transferred to the city jail on Tuesday, a day after Judge Editha Mina-Aguba of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 100 ordered him committed to the facility.
Orlando Estrera was charged with parricide after he stabbed and struck his wife, Hiede, and then cut off her limbs on March 11.
While being presented to reporters, he showed no remorse for his actions, saying that he did it to save the world because his wife was the devil.
Following his arrest, Estrera was detained at the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) headquarters until he provoked other inmates, prompting policemen to place him in isolation.
Senior Insp. Elmer Monsalve, head of the QCPD homicide unit, said Estrera did not undergo psychiatric evaluation while in detention. —Jhesset O. Enano
