Calabarzon cops anti-drug ops: 1 dead, 8 arrested in Laguna, Cavite

SAN PEDRO CITY – An illegal drug suspect was killed while eight others were arrested in separate anti-narcotics police operations over the weekend in Laguna and Cavite provinces, police reported on Monday.

In Biñan City, a certain Topet Hernandez was killed when he reportedly tried to fight back police during a buy-bust operation in Barangay (village) San Antonio around 3:45 p.m. Sunday, the Calabarzon police report said.

Still in Laguna, Jomar Lirio and Kenneth Francis Aguila were arrested around 11 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Mayondon, Los Baños town. Police said they recovered from the suspects five plastic sachets of suspected “shabu” or crystal meth worth P10,000.

Meanwhile, in Cavite province, authorities arrested Jonathan Ramos in Barangay San Miguel 2, Dasmariñas City around 1:30 am Monday. The suspect yielded five sachets of suspected shabu, police said.

In Kawit, also in Cavite, operatives collared Elmer Zuñiga, Fredmar Wuiamzon, Miko Cullo, and Jonathan Senis in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tabon 1 around 4 p.m. Sunday.

Another drug suspect, Carlito Vallejos, was arrested in Imus City around midnight Sunday in Barangay Pasong Buaya for allegedly attempting to sell four sachets of illegal drugs to undercover policemen.                        /kga
