Senator Grace Poe reminded the public on Thursday that unused terminal fee included in the purchase of airline tickets can be refunded.

“Alam mo a lot sa ating mga kababayan are paying terminal fees but they don’t actually take the flight, entitled kayo sa refund… yung terminal fee na nabayaran na ninyo sa ticket nyo ‘yun po ay refundable,” Poe said in an interview.

Poe, who chairs the Senate public services committee, said a total of P250 million unused terminal fee remains unclaimed from Cebu Pacific alone.

Philippine Airlines (PAL) Senior Vice President Fred Mison said they also have around the same amount of unclaimed terminal fee refund.

“Nagre-refund po kami kung sinasabi ng pasahero dahil sinabi nga po kanina ‘di madali mag-refund kung hindi namin alam kung kanino ibibigay ung unused terminal fee,” Mison said.

The PAL official said passengers only have to reach them through [email protected], submit their request for refund, and they would process it once verified.

“Kung mabilis ‘yung contactability ng tao in a matter of one week or two weeks naibibigay yan. Hindi po pera ng Philippine Airlines o ng other airlines ‘yan, pera ng tao yan,” Mison said.

“We are trying to find ways to make the process easier sa ganun, we are trying to notify them,” he added.                        /kga
