Marijuana uprooted in Iligan City plantations

ILIGAN CITY–Authorities on Wednesday raided two marijuana plantations in Barangay Luinab here.

The operation was conducted by personnel from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Northern Mindanao, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), police and soldiers.

Alex Cabornay, head agent of NBI in Northern Mindanao, said Jason Ermac, who was allegedly behind the plantations measuring a hectare each, was arrested during the operation.

“We received intelligence reports that two marijuana plantations exist in the area and we were able to verify it through intelligence gathering of information,” Cabornay said.

“We were able to uproot fully grown marijuana plants and seedlings,” Cabornay said, adding that the plantations were adjacent.

The suspect was detained at the NBI Northern Mindanao office in Cagayan de Oro City and faces charges for violation of the anti-drugs law.
