Duterte extends Dela Rosa’s term as PNP chief

President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Tuesday he would again extend the term of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
“There are scoundrels, scalawags in every organization. That is why the PNP [chief] now who is supposed to retire on the 24th of April, and because he enjoys my trust and confidence, I will extend his term for a little bit longer,” Duterte said in a speech in Malacañang.

The President said he extended the term of Dela Rosa “because he enjoys my trust and confidence.”
Dela Rosa was supposed to retire on January 21 this year but Duterte extended it until April this year.
