Navotas barangay exec’s brother shot dead
The brother of a barangay councilor in Navotas City was killed while another man was wounded after they were shot at by motorcycle-riding suspects on Monday night.
Norman de Guia, 51, brother of Barangay San Jose councilor Boyet de Guia, died due to multiple gunshot wounds while his friend, Romeo Tudilla, 56, was taken to the hospital after he was hit by stray bullets, according to Senior Supt. Brent Madjaco, acting Navotas police chief.
The gunmen’s target was believed to be De Guia, whose brother was reportedly eyeing the top barangay post in the May election.
Although the victim was charged with murder 30 years ago, Madjaco said it was unlikely that his death was related to that.
Footage taken by a closed-circuit television camera in the area showed the victims seated inside a barangay outpost on Gulayan Street, Barangay San Jose, around 9:30 p.m. on Monday when two men riding on a motorcycle with the headlights turned off passed by.
A few seconds later, one of the riders ran back and fired at De Guia and Tudilla before fleeing toward Gov. Pascual Street.
