Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) operations were briefly disrupted on Friday after an electrical failure forced a southbound train to halt at Santolan-Annapolis Station.

The troubled train offloaded about 850 commuters at 3:26 p.m. after it was reported that the train’s motor was hit by an electrical failure, MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said in an advisory.

Narvaez said the train was brought to the depot in North Avenue, Quezon City for preventive maintenance and replacement of electrical components.

The electrical failure in the train motor may have been caused by worn out electrical sub-components, the MRT-3 official said.

The offloaded passengers boarded the next train which arrived three minutes after the incident. This was the sixth glitch to be reported in February. /jpv
