PAGADIAN CITY–Authorities on Wednesday killed Western Mindanao’s third most wanted person, who was also No. 1 most wanted in Zamboanga del Sur, during a 15-minute firefight in Barangay Benuatan in Dinas town.

Senior Inspector Felixberto Rule Jr., Dinas police chief, said Salik Abdulkarim Samin, alias Commander Karding, was killed when he traded shots with joint police operatives serving warrants of arrest against him for murder and illegal possession of firearms in Sitio Matab-ang.

Rule said Samin tried to elude arrest by escaping on a motorboat while firing shots at the approaching policemen.

Dinas Mayor Felicito Chavez said Samin once belonged to the Ambol Group in Dinas, which was involved in killings, extortion, piracy and distribution of illegal drugs.
