Village exec, 2 others held for guns, drugs
COTABATO CITY–A village official and two men were arrested by members of the police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for illegal possession of firearms and illegal drugs.
Chief Inspector Allan Uy, the spokesperson of the CIDG in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-ARMM), said Sadat Ayunan, village councilor of Barangay Kalanganan Mother, did not resist arrest when police, backed by Army Special Forces, raided his home at 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Arrested with Ayunan were Abdillah Ibrahim and Kusin Inaogan, both residents of the said village, who were inside the house when the search was conducted.
Uy said CIDG operatives, armed with search warrants, seized four sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P30,000, an M-4 rifle, 12-gauge shot guns, cal. 45 pistols, a cal. 38 revolver, a rifle grenade launcher, and ammunition from the suspects.
He said charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the anti-illegal drugs law, and Republic Act 10591 or the firearms and explosives law, were now being prepared against the suspects, who remained under CIDG custody.
