Phivolcs: No relation between quakes abroad and Mayon eruption
The Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Phivolcs) debunked on Sunday the relation of the earthquakes and volcanic eruptions around the Pacific Ring of Fire to the eruption of Mayon volcano.
Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said that the occurrences of the natural incidents around the globe were not interrelated with each other.
“Walang kaugnayan ang mga lindol sa ibang bansa, sa lindol sa iba pang malalayo bansa or even sa pagsabog ng bulkan,” Solidum said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990 AM.
(There is no relation between the earthquakes in other countries to other earthquakes in other far-away countries or even the eruption of volcanoes.)
“Wala pong implication yan sa mga hazards at warnings kasi po pagdating sa lindol o pagsabog ng bulkan sa ating bansa, may sari-saril tayong earthquake generator,” he added.
