Landslide hits highway in Albay

GUINOBATAN, Albay – Heavy rain that has poured since Friday night caused a landslide that blocked a portion of the national highway here Sunday morning.

The incessant rain spawned by the tail-end of a cold front dislodged soil that fell on the highway in Barangay Morera at about 9 a.m., damaging a shanty, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

No one was reported hurt.

Motorists were directed to use a lane of the highway while DPWD personnel cleared the road of debris. /cbb
