8.5MW hydro power plant switched on in Isabela
RAMON, Isabela – The 8.5-megawatt (MW) Maris Main Canal Hydroelectric Power plant of SN Aboitiz Power-Magat, Inc. (SNAP-Magat) was activated in a ceremonial switch-on program on Thursday in Ambatali village here.
Maris hydro is the first power plant to be constructed by the SN Aboitiz Power Group since it acquired the 380-MW Magat hydroelectric plant in 2007.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, Undersecretary Jesus Posadas of the Department of Energy and Norwegian Ambassador Erik Forner joined the ceremony held at the compound of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Dams and Reservoir Division.
Maris hydro utilizes water coming from Magat dam, that discharges into Maris’ re-regulating dam located downstream of Magat, before it flows towards an irrigation canal.
It took two years to complete the PH2.15 billion run-of-river plant located in Ambatali village, making it “the newest addition to SNAP-Magat’s roster of host communities.” Magat straddles Ramon and Alfonso Lista town in Ifugao province.
