SAN PEDRO CITY – Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin Remulla said two buildings are ablaze  after a  big fire hit the facilities of the House Technologies Inc. (HTI) inside the Cavite Economic Zone.

But Charito Plaza, director of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), clarified that the facilities belonged to Scad Services, a sister company of the HTI.

The fire started around 10 p.m. Friday and has reached a fourth alarm. Plaza said fire trucks from all over Cavite province are in the area to put the fire out.

“They have a lot of wood products,” Plaza said.

Incidentally, Plaza said PEZA had just signed a memorandum of agreement (Moa) with the Bureau of Fire and the Department of the Interior and Local Government on Thursday to step up fire prevention measures inside economic zones.

“This (fire) is a baptism of fire of our MOA,” she said.
