Even the best public relations handlers and media campaign cannot help former Customs chief Nicanor Faeldon walk out of detention. His freedom was all in his hands, according to Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.

Pimentel said on Saturday it was only Faeldon who could purge himself of the contempt he was cited for by attending and testifying at the next Senate hearing on the P6.4-billion “shabu” (crystal meth) shipment that slipped through the Bureau of Customs in May.

“When it comes to contempt, your freedom is in your hands,”  Pimentel said. —Jocelyn R. Uy
