/ 06:11 AM December 30, 2017

The local government of Makati City recently passed an ordinance that required bikers and skaters in the city to wear helmets at all times, as well as limited to just one the number of child passenger allowed on a bike.

Under Ordinance No. 2017-134, or the Bicycles, Skateboards, Roller Skates and Other Similar Forms of Conveyances Safe Riding Ordinance of the City of Makati, riders and passengers should now wear helmets whenever they are traveling on any road or street within the city.

Bikers are also limited to have only one child on their bike, provided the kid’s arm can reach and grasp the handle bars of the bike and be able to hold on during transit.

Pedicabs are  allowed to ferry only three kids at a time, and all should be seated on the side car. Violators will pay a fine of up to P3,000 or imprisonment of up to six months. —Jovic Yee
