Village captain shot dead in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines — A village captain was shot dead by his chief watchman in the town of Alfonso in Cavite Friday, said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., the spokesperson of the Philippine National Police.

He identified the victim as Teddy Alvarez, Sinaliw na Munti village captain, who was shot dead by the village’s chief watchman Theodoro Ronsairo at around 11:15 a.m. in the said village.

Alvarez was rushed to the Dr. Poblete Memorial Hospital but died due to multiple gunshot wounds to his body, said Cruz.

The suspect, who also went by the name “Doroy”, escaped.

Cruz said that Alfonso town police were conducting pursuit operations to arrest Ronsairo.
