Storm signal was lifted over Palawan as Tropical Depression Urduja continued to move away from the country, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

The tropical cyclone is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in the morning or afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Urduja was last spotted 240 kilometers west northwest of Palawan. It packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 60 kph.

It moved west-southwest at 18 kph as it continued to approach the western boundary of the PAR.

Sea travel remained dangerous over Palawan due to the surge of northeast monsoon. /cbb
