Duterte won’t let up on urban poor officials

/ 07:30 AM December 14, 2017

President Duterte continued to chide the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) on Wednesday after firing all of its commissioners, saying it failed to produce any report about poverty alleviation.

“If it’s a collegial body, a commission, why have you not submitted a report to me? It’s an office under the presidency. Why is there no product about the alleviation of poverty. Where is the money I gave to you? Why is there no collegial activity?” Mr. Duterte said in an ambush interview at Fort Bonifacio.

He also insisted on questioning PCUP chair Terry Ridon’s overseas travels, which the latter said were covered by the proper permissions and documentation.

The President said Ridon wanted to go to every international convention, using up the funds under his disposal at the PCUP.
