3 suspected Abu Sayyaf killed in Sulu
ZAMBOANGA CITY—Three suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf Group were killed in a 10-minute encounter with soldiers in Sitio Buling-Buling, Barangay Su-uh, Panamao town in Sulu on Friday.
Brigadier General Cirilito Sobejana, commander of Joint Task Group Sulu, said the military was still verifying the identity of those killed but added they belonged to the Patikul-based Abu Sayyaf group led by Radullan Sahiron who recently clashed with soldiers and marine forces conducting security patrol in the area.
He said the bodies were turned over to the local government to be given proper interment rites.
Sobejana said soldiers recovered an M16 rifle and a caliber pistol from the scene of the encounter.
