Grab PH urges gov’t to analyze metro traffic problem

Transport network company (TNC) Grab Philippines urged the government on Friday to conduct a scientific study on the traffic problem in Metro Manila, emphasizing that the issue should not be blamed on TNCs alone.

Grab Philippines Country Head Bryan Cu said that traffic jam in the capital has gotten worse even though TNCs, following an order from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), have stopped adding cars in their system.

“We stopped adding cars in August. Has traffic gotten better or worse? Traffic has gotten worse. So it’s not the TNCs or the TNVS (Transport Network Vehicle System). Hindi na nagdagdag e pero bakit sumasama pa traffic (We haven’t added new ones but traffic gets worse)?” Cu said during the opening of Grab’s call center in Makati City.

“It’s very hard to ascribe on this, (until) there is a professional and objective study that’s done,” Cu said.

Cu said an average Grab ride is now around 45 minutes, up from 38 minutes six months ago. /jpv
