Suspected mastermind in June murder of cop nabbed in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY — The suspected mastermind in the June 6 killing of a San Carlos City policeman was arrested on Sunday in Laoac town, Pangasinan province.

Rufino Tabayoyong is suspected of financing the shooting to death of PO2 Jimbo Agtarap and the wounding of PO1 Rachel Cancino.

Agtarap was attacked by gunmen aboard a white van, who also shot Cancino when she tried to rescue the fallen cop.

Tabayoyong was detained by policemen who enforced a search warrant for the illegal possession of firearms. Illegal drugs were also found at his house in Panaga village during the search.

On September 14, a suspect in the slaying of Agtarap was killed in a shootout with the police. /je
