2 hurt in Oriental Mindoro shooting incident

CITY OF CALAPAN—Two men were wounded when an unidentified gunman shot at them while they were having a drinking spree in Pinamalayan town in Oriental Mindoro province, police report said Saturday.

Reports reaching Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (Mimaropa) police office disclosed that victims Frank Belcezar, 61, farm helper, and Sulpicio Abuyo, 62, laborer, both residents of Sitio (sub-village) Sta. Ana in Barangay (village) Cacawan, were having a drinking session with another person in Belcezar’s house at about 6:45 p.m. Friday when an unidentified man approached them and opened fire, hitting the two victims.

After the shooting, the suspect escaped with his companion on board a motorcycle to an unknown direction.

Police are still investigating the incident to determine the motive behind the crime while checkpoints were intensified within the area. /jpv
