Luzon, WV, Metro folk warned: Brace for more rains spawned by ‘Odette’
Residents in Luzon and Western Visayas should brace for more heavy rains as tropical storm “Odette” (international name: Khanun) has kept its strength, the state weather bureau said Saturday.
In its 5 a.m. severe weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said moderate to heavy rains would continue to pour over the following areas: Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (Calabarzon), and Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan (Mimaropa) due to Odette.
Odette has almost remained stationary since Friday night, Pagasa said, and was last seen 280 kilometers west northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan.
The storm has maximum sustained winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 113 kph and is expected to move west northwest at 10 kph.
The bureau warned that sea travel remained risky over the seaboards of northern Luzon, the western seaboard of Central Luzon, and western and southern seaboards of southern Luzon because of the tropical storm.
