Police tipster shot dead in Mati City
TAGUM CITY – A police asset was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Mati City, Davao Oriental on Sunday, a day after an alleged drug suspect was also gunned down in the same city, police on Monday said.
Reports reaching Davao Oriental police office identified the slain victim as Agripino Diamante.
Initial investigation by the Mati City police revealed that two suspects shot Diamante several times at Sitio (Sub-village) Sudlon, Barangay (Village) Central at around 5:45 p.m.
The assailants fled onboard the Diamante’s motorcycle, taking with them a bag owned by the victim’s.
Diamante was reportedly an informant of the local police and had tipped authorities off about several drug suspects in their locality.
On Saturday, unidentified gunmen on motorbikes shot dead Rodrigo Dumaboc, 32, jobless and a resident of Purok (Community) Fairview, Barangay Central.
Quoting a report from Mati City police, Chief Inspector Andrea dela Cerna, Southern Mindanao police spokesperson, said the victim was heading home with his girlfriend after attending a fiesta celebration when attacked by two assailants.
Dumaboc died due to multiple gunshot wounds while his companion was unharmed.
Dela Cerna said responding policemen recovered at the scene of incident four empty shells of bullets from .45 caliber pistol and a small sachet of suspected shabu (crystal meth).
Police said Dumaboc was listed as “newly-identified drug suspect” in Mati.
An investigation into the shootings was now being conducted, the regional police spokesperson said.
