5 killed, 22 injured in collision of 2 vans in Cagayan
TUGUEGARAO CITY — Five people died and 22 others were injured when two commuter vans collided on Sunday morning in Amulung town, Cagayan province.
A van driven by Rustum Bartolome blew a tire on its way to Baggao town and crashed into a van from Aparri town that was headed for this city, according to the Amulung police.
The 10 a.m. accident on the highway in Barangay Baculud killed Bartolome’s passengers: Reynalda Tolentino, Erlinda Doran, Marivic Battung, Floraida Sales, and Hermilita Cadiz. All of them were Cagayan residents.
Wounded were Samson Catulos Sr. and his son Samson Jr., Marites Baril and her children Kerby and Kim, Katherine Rodriguez, Donna Llenilo, Jerico Soliman, Mary Ann Delcon, Izelle Natividad, Zenaida Gammad, Mario Danao, Maricriz Anzia and her daughter Baby Anzia, Jonito Sarayna, Laura Bartolome, Jonathan Duran, Princess Sadanan, Rustom Bartolome, Louie May Sorita, Sorita Mae Pacencia, and John Cedric Solina.
Police will charge Bartolome with reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and serious physical injuries. –Villamor Visaya Jr.
