November 14 is the 136th birth anniversary of Gregorio S. del Pilar, believed to be the youngest general of the revolution. A nephew of propagandist Marcelo H. del Pilar, he volunteered for military service when the war broke out in 1896. He quickly rose in rank and worked closely with General Emilio Aguinaldo. He was killed at the Battle of Tirad Pass on Dec. 2, 1899.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
