Confiscated poultry products burned in Sorsogon
LEGAZPI CITY – Personnel from Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Animal Industry burned about thirty-three poultry products confiscated in Pilar town’s port in Sorsogon province Wednesday noon as preventive measure against the dreaded avian flu.
Felipe Mendez, livestock inspector at Pilar port quarantine office, said they burned the poultry products because they wanted to prevent the possible spread of avian flu in the province of Sorsogon.
“We confiscated the gamefowls, duck and 45 days chicken from the persons carrying it because they can’t present any veterinary health certificate,” he said.
He, however, did not specify where the poultry products were heading before they were confiscated.
He said all the poultry that were burned came from different provinces like Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal and Pampanga. JE
