LRT 2 back in full service after fire at Pureza station

The Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 has resumed its full operations starting 4:30 a.m. Monday.

LRT Line 2 went on limited operation between Santolan and Cubao stations after its power cables, telecommunication and signaling wires were damaged by a fire incident at the Pureza station Saturday night.

According to the LRT Authority, the junction box in Pureza was hit by lightning during the heavy downpour, sparking a fire.

“I’m thankful that inspite of the heavy damage to our system, nobody is hurt,” LRTA administrator Reynaldo Berroya said in a statement.

“I also commend our personnel for their cooperation, oneness and commitment. They have displayed and showed competence with selfless devotion to public service during the emergency,” Berroya added. CBB
